Life Insurance

Another way to provide to MSF is to name the organization as a beneficiary of any individual or group term life insurance policy. You will obtain an estate tax deduction for insurance proceeds that pass on to MSF upon your death. You can gift a new or existing policy as well as designate MSF as the beneficiary.

What are the advantages of naming MSF as a beneficiary of my insurance?

  • Possible estate tax deduction
  • You will create a sizeable gift to MSF with minimal expenditure
  • You will provide support for MSF's programs

Why would I choose to give through life insurance?

By leaving an insurance policy to MSF, the proceeds will not be subject to estate taxes upon your death. If you choose to transfer your policy to MSF during your lifetime, you may qualify for an income tax charitable deduction and you may deduct the cost of future payments.

How would I go about naming MSF as a beneficiary of my life insurance policy?

The first step is to request a "change of beneficiary" from form your insurance company. You can name MSF as sole or partial beneficiary, or you can name it as a contingent beneficiary in case you are predeceased by your primary beneficiary.

You will need to list us as the following for the form:

Doctors Without Borders USA, Inc. (our legal name)
333 7th Avenue, 2nd Fl.
New York, NY 10001
Tax ID: 13-3433452
