Corporate Gift Acceptance Policy
Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières USA'S Corporate Gift Acceptance Policy
Effective January 1, 2006
Médecins Sans Frontières-USA recognizes the potential conflict between receiving donations from certain types of corporations and fulfilling our humanitarian programs. Therefore, the following policy is in place to guide our corporate fundraising practices.
MSF will not accept contributions from corporations/industries and their respective corporate foundations whose core activities may be in direct conflict with the goals of the medical humanitarian work of MSF, or in any way limit MSF's ability to provide humanitarian assistance.
MSF-USA is therefore authorized to solicit and accept funds from corporations (which includes small businesses, companies, multinational corporations, corporate foundations, &c.) excluding those that derive a significant portion of their income from the production and/or sale of tobacco, alcohol, arms, pharmaceuticals (including: medicines, medical equipment, therapeutic foods, diagnostic and biotechnical materials, and research), and/or mineral, oil, gas, or other extractive industries. This includes (a) outright gift of cash, (b) employee driven internal events, (c) external events driven by corporate management, (d) donations of goods and services, (e) sponsorship or partnerships, (f) company matching gifts and (g) recognition gifts.
The use of the MSF logo by a corporate partner must be restricted to appropriate uses only, and care should be taken to ensure that MSF's name and reputation is not harmed or diluted by excessive or inappropriate promotion.
MSF reserves the right to refuse donations from any corporate entity.
