ATHENS/NEW YORK, JULY 14, 2016 — Pharmaceutical companies are making it exorbitantly expensive to vaccinate vulnerable children, the international medical humanitarian organization Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) warned today, calling on Pfizer and GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) to lower the price of the pneumonia vaccine (PCV) for governments and humanitarian organizations working in emergency contexts.

JUNE 14, 2016 – Two months into a ceasefire in Yemen, civilians continue to be severely affected by violence in the city of Taiz, according to the medical humanitarian organization Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF).

Since the ceasefire started in April, medical facilities run or supported by MSF have treated 1,624 people with injuries caused by the intense fighting in Taiz. More than 700 are civilians.

New York/Lusaka, Zambia—The largest cholera vaccination campaign ever began today in Zambia’s capital, Lusaka. International medical humanitarian organization Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is working in close collaboration with the Zambian Ministry of Health and the World Health Organization to vaccinate more than half a million people in the next two weeks to curb the outbreak that began in February in the city’s overcrowded township areas.

SANAA/BARCELONA, MARCH 16, 2016—Medical teams working for Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) in Abs Hospital, Yemen, treated more than 40 patients injured in two deadly airstrikes on a marketplace in Khamis village, Mustaba District, northern Hajja Governorate March 15. Two people died in transit to the hospital, and four patients arrived in critical condition, including an eight-year-old child who was referred to a specialist for neurosurgical care.
