In early 2014, MSF’s hospital in Leer, in South Sudan’s Unity State, was attacked, burned and looted. On May 9, staff and patients were evacuated again in anticipation of another devastating attack.

Since May 2014, Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) has supported around 100 medical facilities on both sides of the frontline in Ukraine with medical supplies, in addition to running an ongoing psychological support program. To address difficulties people in rural areas face accessing health care and medicines after more than ten months of conflict, MSF is also running mobile clinics in 25 locations in Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

As fighting continues in the Donetsk region of eastern Ukraine, Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is providing medical supplies, including bandages, syringes, antibiotics and stretchers, to hospitals there. Teams also continue the work of treating patients with drug-resistant tuberculosis in the regional penitentiary system, a program MSF began in 2011.

Rape is frequently used by armed groups as a weapon of war, and in places where law and order have crumbled, vulnerable people simply have no recourse, leaving attackers to act with impunity. Such is the case in Central African Republic (CAR), where the brutal fighting continues.
