Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) began working in Likoni, Kenya, in February 2016, collaborating with the Mombasa County Department of Health. While MSF renovates and upgrades the brick and mortar maternity hospital in Likoni, staff provide life-saving care for mothers and babies inside a temporary shipping container structure—the Mrima Health Center.

In Tal Afar District, northwest of Mosul, a dire lack of functional medical facilities is preventing the population from accessing health care. In response, MSF is expanding its activities in the area, opening a maternity clinic in October 2016 and, more recently, a stabilization unit and children’s ward in the village of Tal Maraq.

On February 19, Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) opened a field trauma hospital with surgical capacity in a village to the south of Mosul. It is composed of two operating theaters, one intensive care unit, an emergency room, an in-patient ward, and other necessary support facilities.

One year has passed since Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) began providing lifesaving health services at the General Rural Hospital of Thi As Sufal District in Yemen’s Ibb Governorate. Known locally as Al-Kaida Hospital, it is one of numerous health facilities in Yemen that has been financially crippled by the war that started in March 2015.
