In recent weeks, fighting in the Greater Upper Nile region has left the town of Wau Shilluk deserted, and now thousands of vulnerable people who fled the violence are in urgent need of humanitarian assistance. Until recently, Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) ran a hospital in Wau Shilluk, but when the fighting approached, the organization was forced to evacuate the facility.

Known locally as Al-Kaida Hospital, it is one of numerous health facilities in Yemen that has been financially crippled by the war that started in March 2015.

SANA'A, YEMEN—Six months after withdrawing its staff from northern Yemen following the bombing of its hospital in Abs, the international medical humanitarian organization Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) has restarted work in Haydan District Hospital in Sa'ada Governorate.

MSF evacuated most of its staff from both Hajjah and Sa'ada governorates following the August 15, 2016, airstrike on Abs Hospital, which killed 19 people and injured 24, and a series of other attacks on medical facilities in northern Yemen.
