In recent weeks, fighting in the Greater Upper Nile region has left the town of Wau Shilluk deserted, and now thousands of vulnerable people who fled the violence are in urgent need of humanitarian assistance. Until recently, Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) ran a hospital in Wau Shilluk, but when the fighting approached, the organization was forced to evacuate the facility.

When the fighting started she was forced to flee with the rest of the town’s population to Kodok and then to Aburoch, where MSF runs emergency operations.

Known locally as Al-Kaida Hospital, it is one of numerous health facilities in Yemen that has been financially crippled by the war that started in March 2015.
