MSF Responds to Refugees Fleeing into Chad and CameroonFebruary 26, 2008Doctors Without Border/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) has been trying to assist more than 10,000 Sudanese refugees who arrived in Birak, Chad, after having fled bombings in Sudan's western Darfur region between February 8 and February 10. Reports say that 30,000 people are still trapped in West Darfur, Sudan, facing aerial bombing and ground attacks and MSF is very worried about this civilan population. MSF teams are also continuing to assist Chadian refugees who have settled in Cameroon following the intense combat in the N'Djamena, Chad's capital, in early February. Hugues Robert, manager of MSF's emergency team, provides an update of the situations in eastern Chad and Cameroon. Tags: Chad |
