Sierra Leone: Patient Fees Put Lifesaving Medical Care Out of ReachNovember 17, 2009 In Sierra Leone, a simple medical consultation may cost as much as 25 days of income. These fees are a major obstacle to life-saving health care in a country with some of the highest maternal and child mortality rates in the world. On November 18 and 19, 2009, international donors will meet in London at the Sierra Leone Investment and Donor Conference. MSF wants donors to realize the urgency of this user fee problem and take steps to address it.
