Malawi: Ten Years of Antiretrovirals

MSF begans using antiretroviral drugs, or ARVs, to treat people living with HIV/AIDS in Malawai in 2001. Now, a program that initially served 500 patients serves 18,000 and stands as proof that a large-scale antiretroviral program is possible in precarious situations.
