South Sudan: A Nation Facing Major Challenges

After 20 years of civil war in Sudan, the south recently voted in favor of independence. South Sudan now faces major challenges, including a lack of qualified medical staff and health care facilities. MSF has been working in South Sudan, supporting maternal and pediatric care and combating disease outbreaks and malnutrition, among other things, since 1998.
