Kenya: Humanitarian Emergency in Dadaab

July 27, 2011

Thousands of Somali refugees arrive weekly in northeastern Kenya after often long journeys through the desert to the Dadaab refugee camps. When they arrive, they find that the camps are full. Most of these new arrivals must build crude shelters on the outskirts of the camps in the desert and wait up to two months to receive food rations. Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) provides medical care to those inside and outside the official camps.
