Nigeria: Providing World-Class Surgery

A town on the Niger Delta in the south of Nigeria, Port Harcourt has 1.5 million inhabitants. Traffic there is lawless, and there are countless road accidents; victims make up one-third of patients in the trauma center run by Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF). Injuries related to violence are the other main cause for surgical intervention.
