MSF Activities Continue in Jebel Marra Region of Darfur, Sudan

November 8, 2004

An MSF team working in the Jebel Marra region of Darfur, Sudan, is back in the town of Golo implementing medical activities. There are currently 50 patients in the hospital in Golo where MSF is working and outpatient consultations and other activities have resumed as usual. Six international and 40 national staff are in charge of the activities at the hospital in Golo.

The MSF team temporarily evacuated to the city of El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur, on Sunday, October 31, due to fighting taking place in the outskirts of Golo. The team was never directly threatened by any party to the conflict.

MSF teams elsewhere in Darfur are continuing their activities as usual.
