MSF Activities in IraqOctober 27, 2003Baghdad:MSF runs three primary health care centers in Sadr City, a Shi'ite area of Baghdad that had been neglected for years and was in dire need of healthcare even before the recent war. At the moment, MSF staff is seeing 2,000 patients a month at a clinic in Shishan, 6,000 a month at a clinic in Ma'amil, and 3,000 a month at a clinic in Al Obedi. In addition to basic health care, MSF also provides ante-natal care and some nutritional support. MSF is also training and supervising nurses at Al Thawra hospital. Southern Iraq:MSF recently finished a months-long drug distribution program and continues to monitor the situation in the south. In the event of a medical emergency and security permitting, MSF will look for ways to respond. Tags: Iraq |
