During this period, about five of my colleagues in Kigali died of Aids. All the staff at my workplace received counselling about HIV/Aids and the importance of knowing their status. I embraced the opportunity and took the test.
I was distraught to learn that I was HIV-positive. Florentine was six months pregnant. I was afraid of telling her because I did not know how she was going to take it, so I decided not to tell her.
