It was not long after my husband died in 1997 that I began falling ill frequently. I kept coughing and was often so sick that I would be hospitalized. When I got pneumonia, I decided to go for HIV testing.
At the health centre the doctor asked me, "What if you find you have been infected, how are you going to feel and what are you going to do?" I responded, "I will accept the news as it is, and there is nothing I can do."
