Communications & Development Assistant

Department

The Communications and Development Assistant will support both the Communications and Development department.

The Communications Department is responsible for developing a coherent voice and delivering clear public messages to inform both US and international audiences of MSF, its field activities and the humanitarian principles that underpin them;

Project

The Communications and Development Assistant will be responsible for providing administrative support to the Communications and Development Department. Tasks include and are not limited to: coordinating travel, scheduling meetings, organizing meeting rooms, taking minutes, reserving conference phone lines when requested, ordering and setting up food if appropriate.

Tasks

·         Triage donor requests to appropriate department personnel regarding annual report publishing;

·         Produce and compile monthly analytics reports on key performance indicators for the communications department; 

·         Manage adobe subscriptions for all of MSF by processing invoices, keep ongoing list of current subscriptions and handle request for new licenses

Requirements

As the Community Development & Events Associate, you will be part of a dynamic, collaborative, and fast-paced fundraising events team at Doctors Without Borders/Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF). Our team works with a variety of people and supporter events across the country. We help individuals and organizations who want to support us through their fundraising efforts, be that a bake sale or a formal gala.

 

We create and partner with 3rd party events to further the cause of MSF, from marathons to speed video gaming. We organize speaking tours, bringing the work of MSF to those who support it across the country. We manage the university student chapter network, expanding the reach of the work of MSF to the next generation of supporters.

 

As Community Development & Events Associate, you will help us take our community engagement and fundraising to the next level.

 

 On any given day, you might be:

·                   Researching venues and designing the logistics for our aid worker speaking tour program.

·                   Speaking to student chapters to get them started, help structure their semesters, or support their events.

·                   Creating a new system to better track and report on the activities and development of the student chapter program

Director of Field Human Resources

Department

The Field Human Resources Department (Field HR) is responsible for the recruitment, selection, placement, and retention of qualified and well-suited field staff to meet the growing needs of MSF’s field operations. 

The Field HR Department also comprises the People Management Unit (PMU) and Psychosocial Care Unit (PSCU). The PMU conducts training and other programs to develop management skills for field staff, current programs include Field Management Trainings and mentoring and coaching programs. The PSCU provides psychosocial support for all MSF-USA field workers before, during and after field assignments, and provides direct field support on the request of the Operational Centers.

In addition, the MSF-USA Field HR department has a key role to play in the Operational Center Paris partnership and is responsible for delivering key projects and supporting priorities identified in the OCP strategic plan.

 

Purpose of the Job

The Director of Field Human Resources (FHR) plays a critical role within MSF-USA. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director of FHR is responsible, in close collaboration with the Directors of the respective areas, for the development and implementation of MSF-USA’s Human Resources Vision and for defining and delivering on the People’s related Orientations of MSF USA’s Strategic Plan.

The Director of FHR is MSF-USA’s main interlocutor on International Human Resources issues within the MSF Movement and other external counterparts and will actively contribute to and advocate for excellence in the management of MSF-USA field workers and optimizing their contribution to MSF’s Social Mission.

 

Responsibilities

Under the general direction of the Executive Director, the Field HR Director develops the strategy for the Field HR Department and coordinates, directs and monitors activities to ensure fulfillment of that strategy.

As a member of the Management Team, participates in developing collective decisions, setting priorities for MSF-USA given resource constraints, approving internal policies and making collective recommendations to the Board of Directors. The Field HR Director is also co-responsible, with the Domestic HR Director, for providing consistency and/ or alignment in approach, policies and practices for all MSF USA employees.

The Director of Field HR is a member of the OCP HR Director group and is jointly responsible for the implementation of the OCP strategic plan, including delivery of projects delegated to MSF-USA.

The Field HR Director represents MSF-USA at the international movement level on HR topics and supports the movement in delivering on international HR initiatives.

The Unit has the responsibility to look to the future and further develop its information management capacity and systems, including better incorporation of the use of new technologies, to facilitate informed decision-making in order to adapt its humanitarian response to constantly changing situations.

Project

The eHealth Unit team members are based in Paris, New York or in field missions and transverse between the operations, medical and IT departments. The eHealth EMR Implementation Engineer functions as a core member of the eHealth team under the supervision of the EMR team lead. The eHealth EMR Implementation Engineer will be responsible for configuration of the forms and setup of master data in the EMR, along with setting up of users and access rights, infrastructure setup and deployment of EMR software on servers, and support of EMR in hospitals and projects in the field. This will include setting up and maintenance of software environments and applications while conforming to OCP standards and ensuring international policies, including procurement, configuration, security and backup policies are in place and adhered to.

○      Configures data capture forms and fields in EMR based on finalized metadata using JSON, CSS and SQL skills

○      Configures drug lists, diagnosis lists, lab test lists, disposition lists, bed layouts, and other master data in the EMR

○      Uses CSS, JavaScript and Groovy skills to configure patient summary dashboards, including calculated values and formulas, patient queues, patient registration and enrollment forms, charts, graphs and other display widgets in the EMR

The EMR Knowledge Management and Training Coordinator functions as a core member of the eHealth Unit and will be responsible for developing and implementing the training and learning strategy for the EMR System, including but not limited to training end users on system navigation, data use and information management and overall knowledge management related to the EMR. The EMR Knowledge Management and Training Coordinator reports to the EMR Team Leader in New York.

 

Tasks

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACTIVITIES:

Development of training objectives, courseware and material for EMR

●      Engage with multi-level end users to identify training needs (including resources, indicators, data sources, data management processes, and use of information)

Logistics Supervisor

The New York Operations Cell is part of the Operational Centre Paris (OCP), an operational partnership under the responsibility of the Operations Director in Paris. The New York Cell has been active in New York, since January 2004 and currently manages programs in Haiti, Liberia, South Sudan, and Sudan.

The Logistics Supervisor is responsible for all operational and technical logistical issues related to the Operational Cell’s country portfolio and provides support to field teams accordingly. As a member of the New York Operations Cell, the Logistics Supervisor is hierarchically under the New York Operational Cell Manager’s responsibility and functionally under the Operational Logistics Manager in Paris.

Requirements

        Experience:

    2 years minimum of logistical field management experience in a humanitarian context. With a minimum of one, long-term assignment as a Logistical Coordinator or the equivalent.

o    Verified fluency in English and French are mandatory.

o    Demonstrated knowledge of the technical policies and practices related to your domain (supply; hospital management; electricity; WatSan; Fleet Management; construction)

The Web Content Coordinator role is an opportunity for a creative, organized, and brilliant web writer, editor, and content producer to help us take our website to the next level. You will be part of a collaborative, fast-paced, and rapidly growing digital team as we relaunch our website and build a new digital strategy.

 

As Web Content Coordinator, you will bring the stories of our work, our teams, and the people we serve to our digital audiences in order to raise awareness and funds, drive vital advocacy goals, and recruit staff for our field projects.

 

The Web Content Coordinator works closely with the Editorial and Marketing Teams to publish, edit, write, track, and update web content using a web content management system (CMS). On any given day you might be formatting first-person stories from staff and patients or medical explainers for the web, routing and fulfilling web content requests from across the organization, or copy editing a page about our emergency response in Syria or Bangladesh to ensure adherence to the MSF digital style guide.

 

The Web Content Coordinator tracks all web content to ensure it remains accurate and up-to-date, and makes recommendations for edits and revisions as relevant. The Web Content Coordinator will collaborate on web content with teams across MSF-USA including the medical unit, and will be integral to the execution of the MSF digital strategy.

 

Tasks

 

  • Using content management systems such as Drupal and WordPress, enters, publishes, and tracks web content across doctorswithoutborders.org and additional minisites
  • Assists in production of digital editions of MSF print publications, including the quarterly magazine Alert and the Annual Report
  • Ensures that all web content adheres to digital style guide, web content accessibility guidelines, and best practice for search engine optimization (SEO)
  • Actively tracks all web content to ensure it remains up-to-date
  • Proactively makes recommendations for web content as appropriate based on new developments or opportunities from the field
  • Contributes ideas to enhance engagement and help web content to better meet strategic objectives
  • Assesses and implements web content requests from across the organization, routes changes for approval
  • Audits website content to ensure pages are optimized and up-to-date
  • Searches multimedia database for compelling and appropriate photographs and videos, formats multimedia content for web, and uploads to websites
  • Supports and maintains web content processes and workflow
  • Builds interactive features based on existing content using third-party interactive tools such as TimelineJS and Google Maps
  • Coordinates with subject matter experts from across the organization to ensure accuracy and currency of web content
  • With guidance from Deputy Editor and Web Manager, drafts and edits web content
  • Audits and configures on-page SEO with current and future tools
  • Implements A/B tests on content, imagery, and landing pages on the website
  • Analyzes web performance data and provides inputs to reports
  • Participates in team meetings, staff meetings, relevant email lists, and other internal learning opportunities

 

Requirements

 

Required

  • At least two years of relevant experience working with a web content management system. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and experience.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills, especially in writing for the web
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Superb organizational and analytical skills
  • Working knowledge of HTML and CSS
  • Experience working with a style manual and ensuring that content adheres to house style
