With winter starting to factor into people's thoughts, prospects seem grim for many of the migrants living in the notorious "Jungle" camp in Calais, in northern France. The French government has vowed to shut the camp down once and for all. Another barrier—a 13-foot-high, half-mile-long wall—appears set to go up. And just this week, Calais residents held demonstrations and set up roadblocks demanding that the camp be razed.

Even though assistance to the camp appears to have thinned, people are still making their way there.

On September 19, United Nations (UN) member states came together to formulate a more “coordinated and humane approach to address large movements of refugees and migrants," according to the New York Declaration that was ratified today at the UN's Global Summit on Refugees and Migrants.

On Monday September 12, at 7:00 a.m. a healthy baby boy was born onboard MV Aquarius, a search and rescue vessel run in partnership between Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) and SOS MEDITERRANEE— a European maritime rescue humanitarian organization . The child was born on international waters to Nigerian parents. They named him Newman Otas.

BRUSSELS/NEW YORK, AUGUST 25, 2016 — On August 17, while conducting search and rescue operations off the Libyan coast, the Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières(MSF) rescue vessel the Bourbon Argos was approached and attacked by a group of armed men onboard an unidentified speedboat, MSF said today, strongly condemning the attack.

Due to the absence of “global” solution to provide the pneumonia vaccine at an affordable price during emergencies, MSF had to pay more than 20 times the lowest global price to vaccinate more than 5000 children against the disease in Greece. Pfizer and GSK, the manufacturers of the vaccine, have refused to reduce the price of the vaccine.
