Treating a Neglected Disease in Bihar, India

In Bihar, India, Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) treats people living amid the world's highest concentration of visceral leishmaniasis, also known as kala azar. Transmitted between both people and animals by the bite of certain types of sandflies, the parasitic disease in its most severe form kills nearly everyone within one to four months if medical attention is not received.
