March 12, 2009 ![]() Graphic Novel Follows MSF Through War-Torn Afghanistan in 1986The Photographer, a graphic novel that follows photographer Didier Lefèvre and an MSF team through northern Afghanistan in 1986, will be published by First Second Books in May. Illustrated by Emmanuel Guibert and designed by Frédéric Lemercier, the novel combines Guibert’s art with Lefèvre’s striking photographs. Led by French MSF nurse Juliette Fournot, the MSF team with Lefèvre set out to assist Afghani civilians during the Soviet Union’s invasion.
