MSF has worked in Belgium since 1987

MSF continues to provide medical, social and psychological health care to marginalized people in Belgium. Clinics based in Brussels, Antwerp and Liege address medical needs of asylum-seekers, undocumented immigrants and homeless people. Together with the Red Cross and the government, in January 2003 MSF assisted 150 Afghan refugees temporarily stranded in Brussels on their way to the United Kingdom. In Brussels, MSF's Elisa Center continues free and anonymous HIV testing and counseling for about 2,000 people each year. MSF also provides psychological assistance to survivors of the 1994 Rwandan genocide through the M'pore project in Brussels and Liege.
