MSF has been working in Haiti since 1992

Since 1994, MSF has provided services to thousands of Haitians who have very limited access to health care. Haiti's decentralized health system has left many with inconsistent and minimal medical care; health indicators are the lowest in the western hemisphere, and maternal mortality is a particular problem. In the communes of St. Marc, Desdunes, Grand Saline and Petite Rivière, teams train national medical staff, provide equipment and supplies, and work to rehabilitate health centers and hospitals. Many project activities focus on reproductive and maternal health in an effort to improve care in this area.
