PublicationsInternational Activity Report 2003Laos
MSF has worked in the Laos since 1990 HIV infection seems to be on the rise in Laos, a country with a poorly maintained and largely inaccessible public health system. In response, MSF's HIV/AIDS project offers medical care for people living with HIV/AIDS in the southern province of Savannakhet. MSF supports the provincial hospital in Savannakhet city by delivering care to HIV patients, supplying needed medicines and providing technical assistance and training for local physicians and nurses. MSF also treats opportunistic infections and carefully monitors admitted HIV patients, with antiretroviral therapy for approximately 40 patients beginning in September 2003. |
