Romania
International staff: 1 MSF has been active in Romania since 1990 MSF's mission in Romania focuses on access to public medical and social services for homeless people. In the capital Bucharest, an MSF socio-medical center assists around 5,000 homeless adults. There are on average 515 medical consultations and 280 social and 60 psychological consultations at the center each month. Since December 2002, the MSF socio-medical team has gone out on the streets three nights a week to raise awareness of MSF's services. Lobbying and public education, such as the "Caravan of Solidarity" that reached 13 cities in September 2002, remains an important aspect of MSF's work. MSF also finances nutritional and vitamin supplements for children living with AIDS. |
