MSF has been working in United Republic of Tanzania since 1993

In Tanzania, home to many refugees from Rwanda, Burundi and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, MSF runs several primary health care projects while closely monitoring the humanitarian situation of the refugees. In Kigoma, MSF is working to improve access to water in key communities; malaria control efforts include case management, improving diagnosis, training and distribution of insecticide-treated bednets. In Mtwara, special emphasis is put on mother-and-child health care. MSF also works with the Ministry of Health on improving preparedness for the country's regular outbreaks of cholera through training local health staff, treating patients, setting up cholera isolation centers and educating for community awareness and better hygiene.
