An interview with Dr. Hussein, a Syrian pediatrician who manages a hospital supported by Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) in besieged eastern Aleppo, which is now enduring a withering onslaught by government and government-affiliated forces. Dr. Hussein had left Aleppo to celebrate Eid Al Fitr outside the city and has been unable to get back in since the last road into east Aleppo was cut in July.

Dr. Erna Rijnierse is an MSF physician onboard the search and rescue vessel the MV Aquarius, which is run in partnership between MSF and SOS MEDITERRANEE. She gave the following account of a rescue operation in the central Mediterranean on July 20, in which 209 people were rescued from two small boats in distress, and 22 people (21 women and one man) were found dead.

Ahmed is the manager of the Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) pharmacy in Kilis, Turkey. At present, he is working on MSF´s donation program, which provides donations of drugs and medical supplies to more than 15 hospitals and health centers inside Syria, and distributes essential household goods to internally displaced people caught up in the conflict.
