Maximize your year-end impact for Doctors Without Borders

Explore your giving options, take advantage of financial incentives, and stay informed about important giving deadlines.

Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) relies on individuals like you to deliver care in Gaza, Sudan, Democratic Republic of Congo, and over 75 countries worldwide. To maximize your impact on our lifesaving work before 2025 is over, we’re sharing a handful of ways to give and the corresponding deadlines. These giving options can even benefit you financially or provide you with tax breaks:

Deadline: Today (or as soon as possible!)

Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD)

If you are 70 ½ or older with a traditional individual retirement account (IRA), making a QCD can potentially lower your tax burden and can help meet your required minimum distribution (RMD) if you’re over 73.
We recommend initiating your QCD now to allow enough time for your financial institution to process your request before year-end. For a QCD to count toward the current year's RMD, the funds must be transferred from your account by December 31.

Charitable Gift Annuity (CGA)

If you are 65 or older, your CGA gift of $10,000 or more provides an immediate income tax deduction and earns you a fixed amount every year for the rest of your life. We recommend reaching out to us now to discuss a CGA if you'd like it processed before the end of the year.

Deadline: December 31

Donate Stocks and Mutual Funds

You can easily donate appreciated stocks, bonds, or mutual funds. Not only is the total value of the stock upon transfer tax-deductible, but there is also no obligation to pay any capital gains taxes on the appreciation. And this year, changes included in Congress’s new tax law mean that non-cash assets may have an even greater impact. Gifts of securities must be received on or before December 31 to be processed before the end of the year.

Give online

All donations to MSF are tax-deductible. When you make a gift online on or before December 31, your contribution will go toward the 2025 fiscal year.

Give by phone Call us at (888) 392-0392. Our phone lines will be open until 11:59 p.m. PT on December 31!

Deadline: January 8

Give by mail

Donations by mail must be received by January 8 to count toward the 2025 fiscal year. You can mail your contribution to:

How does Doctors Without Borders use year-end donations?

As we near the end of a year defined by an increasing number of refugees and displaced families, rapidly spreading disease outbreaks, and escalating violent conflict, Doctors Without Borders is already preparing for what may come in 2026. We can’t predict where the next crisis will be or the challenges we’ll face, but we can commit to making every second—and every dollar—count.

Here’s what our work will look like in 2026 and beyond.

  • Going where others can’t or won’t: From providing vaccinations amid epidemics in Democratic Republic of Congo to expanding pediatric care in Afghanistan, Doctors Without Borders is there.
  • Remaining independent and impartial: We provide lifesaving care based on need alone—regardless of a patient’s race, religion, ethnicity, or politics.
  • Directly funding medical care: When you give to Doctors Without Borders, 84 percent of all donations go directly to our lifesaving medical humanitarian programs.
  • Speaking out: Impartiality does not mean being silent. From malnourished children to inequitable access to care to civilians being targeted in war—we speak out against needless suffering.
  • Remaining a diverse, global movement: Your generosity powers over 67,000 Doctors Without Borders staff members working in over 75 countries.
  • Rapidly responding to crisis: Thanks to our independent funding, when a crisis strikes, we can immediately respond. We don’t have to apply for grants or face red tape.
  • Innovating: From researching new treatments to finding new ways to provide care in remote settings, Doctors Without Borders is leading the next generation of humanitarian aid.
  • Going where we’re needed most: Not all emergencies make headlines. Constant communication with our staff helps ensure that we can prevent crises, often before they become headlines.
  • Being creative: We find creative solutions to deliver care in the most remote places—from mobile clinics traveling up the Amazon River to inflatable surgical tents becoming operating rooms in 48 hours.
  • Embedding in communities around the world: More than 82 percent of Doctors Without Borders staff live and work in their home countries. That means when a disaster strikes, they’re already on the ground.
