Tony Tony Chopper, the beloved character from “ONE PIECE” (a manga series created by Eiichiro Oda and published by Shueisha), has been named an official supporter of Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) to help raise awareness of our humanitarian medical activities worldwide.

Chopper's dream is “to become a doctor who can cure everyone around the world.” As a ship doctor for the Straw Hats, Chopper's unwavering commitment to helping anyone suffering from injury or illness during their adventure has touched the hearts of readers and viewers worldwide.

"Dear Chopper, thank you for joining MSF to save lives around the world! The belief in helping those in need of medical care, regardless of ethnicity or nationality, is something Chopper and MSF share. Please visit our projects and share what you see with many people. We hope that through Chopper, the number of people joining and supporting MSF will grow around the world."

Dr. Javid Abdelmoneim, MSF International President

This belief resonates deeply with MSF’s principles. MSF is an international, independent medical humanitarian organization that provides emergency medical care to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, natural disasters, and exclusion from health care. Operating in more than 70 countries, we deliver lifesaving assistance to people in crisis regardless of ethnicity, religion, nationality, or political affiliation. Our actions are guided by medical ethics and the principles of independence, neutrality, and impartiality. Chopper seems to embody these principles and values.

"I am truly delighted that Chopper, the doctor of the Straw Hats, has been given the opportunity to play an active role on the global stage. He is originally a reindeer who became a "Human-Reindeer" after eating "Human-Human Fruit." Yet he dedicates himself to treating anyone who is injured or ill — whether human or animal, friend or foe.

Because of this compassion and determination, I believe he is a perfect fit to serve as a supporter of Médecins Sans Frontières, an organization that provides medical care on the front lines around the world, transcending borders, race, and religion. We hope you will support his activities.

Congratulations on your appointment, Chopper!"

Hiroyuki Nakano, editor-in-chief of ONE PIECE Media

Our shared stance and philosophy led to the MSF x Chopper collaboration, which aims to broaden understanding and interest in MSF's humanitarian medical activities.

"In this increasingly chaotic world, I intend to continue observing the work of those who come together around the core values of medical care and humanitarianism — both myself and Chopper," says Seiko Ito, an author and creator.

Wherever we go together, the principle remains the same: everyone deserves access to medical care, no matter who or where they are.

Meet Tony Tony Chopper

Tony Tony Chopper is the doctor of the Straw Hats from ONE PIECE, the manga series created by Eiichiro Oda. Originally a blue-nosed reindeer, he became a "Human-Reindeer" after eating the "Human-Human Fruit" (Hito Hito no Mi). He carries the will of his mentor, Dr. Hiriluk, and aims to become a "Panacea" — a doctor who can cure any disease in the world.

Left: In a new illustration by Eiichiro Oda, Chopper raises the MSF flag high as he runs with a stethoscope around his neck. His bulging emergency medical backpack is modeled after those MSF actually uses, while his stance evokes the "running person" logo embodying the spirit of MSF.
