“I really felt motivated to be a nurse,” Yany Ruach said after Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) teams saved the life of a family member who was in critical condition after being shot.
“I want to help people who are sick and people who need help.”
Yany is one of five nursing students studying at the Juba College of Nursing and Midwifery in South Sudan, all thanks to a scholarship from the MSF Academy for Healthcare.
I share Yany’s story as a powerful example of the kind of work MSF does to invest in future generations and build long-term solutions to create healthier communities. But long-term work takes long-term investment. That’s why our Legacy Society members—people who have named MSF in their will or other estate plans—are a cornerstone of our ability to provide humanitarian medical aid.
August is Make-a-Will Month, and we’re sharing a way for you to create a lasting legacy of saving lives. Writing a will is a powerful way to ensure that the people, causes, and movements you care about have support for years to come. It’s also a way to put your humanitarian values into action, and to rest easy knowing that the causes you care about have the support they need.
Making a legacy gift commitment to MSF can enable future teams of doctors, logisticians, and other experts around the world to receive the tools and resources they'll need to save lives. Long-term support from our Legacy Society members helps to ensure MSF's investment in communities and our commitment to providing medical humanitarian aid to those who need it most. Request more information from my team today, and we’ll follow up with you shortly.
As always, my team is happy to help with any questions you may have about our Legacy Society. Reach out directly at 212.763-5750 or plannedgiving@newyork.msf.org.
