Miguel was born prematurely at 31 weeks and had a series of neonatal complications including sepsis, acute respiratory diseases, and fetal distress. At Goyalmara Hospital, MSF was able to provide him with oxygen, antibiotic therapies, and blood transfusions, and teach his family "kangaroo" therapy—a method of skin-to-skin care most commonly used for low birth-weight and premature babies.
