Cycles of Displacement in Ethiopia

Thousands of people have been displaced repeatedly in southern Ethiopia over the past 15 months following an outbreak of ethnic violence in April 2018 and repeated efforts by authorities to relocate them.

Camps where communities fleeing violence had previously found shelter have now been closed, but many families remain displaced because they are unable to safely return to their homes.

The majority are surviving in very difficult conditions, with little humanitarian assistance, and are struggling to protect their children from malnutrition and other diseases.
