Scaling Up Treatment for Sexual Violence in CAR

People in Central African Republic (CAR) have been dealing with increased violence since the country was plunged into crisis six years ago. Women in particular are the victims of high levels of sexual violence. In 2018, Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) treated 4,000 sexual violence survivors in CAR, and this year we are scaling up our response. Since January 2019, according to MSF project manager Beatriz Garcia, we've seen a 40% increase in patients coming for sexual violence treatment.
