Venezuelan Asylum Seekers Face Harsh Conditions in Brazil

Thousands of people fleeing the economic and political crisis in Venezuela have sought security in the Brazilian state of Roraima. But with the state’s official shelters at capacity, many of these displaced people are living in abandoned buildings or on the streets.

The already poor health system of the state’s capital, Boa Vista, is overwhelmed. Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) teams are working in Roraima to provide medical consultations, mental health care, and support for water and sanitation services.
