Ukraine: Troubles in the health system

Following the aftermath of Russia’s annexation of Crimea, armed violence broke out in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, including in the town of Debaltsève, located between the two areas. Consequently, the town's hospital was severely damaged and inhabitants were forced into cellars and underground shelters. In this part of Ukraine, Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) provided consultations to the people who were no longer covered by the local health service and those who could not leave their homes.
