MSF aneasthetist and surgical team in operating theatre in Abobo Sud hospital, Abidjan, 19 April 2011. What is normally a 12 bed hospital is now hosting more than 130 patients, and hospital and MSF staff have made use of every available space to accomodate patients. A week after the end of the military standoff in Abidjan, very few hospitals are open. During the military standoff, people were stuck in their homes for up to a month without access to health care. MSF has been supporting Abobo Sud Hospital since the end of February. At the peak of post-election violence, MSF was treating 25-30 conflict-related wounded every day from mid-March to 11th April.
