MSF’s compound with the hospital and pharmacy ransacked as found on May 28, 2015 after fighting came to Melut County, Upper Nile state in South Sudan earlier that week and after MSF evacuated its entire staff on May 22, 2015. MSF ran an outpatient department in Denthoma 1 camp currently hosting 20,000 internally displaced people. Suspension of medical services, looting and despoiling of medical supplies and evacuation of medical staff, left the population without the much needed medical care and humanitarian assistance. Some patients receiving treatment for diseases like HIV, TB (85 patients) and kala azar were forced to interrupt their treatment, which could lead to drug resistance and be fatal.
