Sylvie delivers a healthy baby after she gets emergency obstetric care in time.

Sylvie, 23, arrived at Kabezi’s state hospital in pain. The doctors knew she was at high risk: she had had two previous C-sections and would need another one for this delivery. But due to an inaccurate measuring tape, her uterus measured 4 centimeters lower than it really was, indicating that birth was not due for another month, and no action was taken. When it became clear that Sylvie needed help immediately, the MSF ambulance was called. When she arrived at MSF’s Kabezi emergency obstetric center, doctors performed an emergency C-section and Sylvie and her baby were saved.
