A number of 130,000 HIV-positive people is estimated in Cambodia from which 25,000 need antiretroviral (ARV) treatment. MSF is treating some 5,400 people which accounts for more than 50% of total people receiving treatment in the country. MSF is working in Phnom Penh, in the infectious room of Preah Bat Norodom Sihanouk Hospital, offering ARV treatment as well as treating opportunistic infections and training social workers and family carers to reduce exposure to HIV and improve patient's adhesion to treatment.
Some tuberculosis incidence is also found, sometimes associated with HIV.
MSF is running a similar project in the Kampong Cham provincial hospital, performing 1,370 visits per month on average.
