Evelyn Sonpon, an Ebola survivor, receives a hug from Joanne Liu, MSF's international president -- an exceptional event in a context where a 'no contact' rule applies. It is a gesture symbolizing a recovered person's status as no longer contagious. Evelyn has always lived with her grandmother and other family members. When two of her uncles died at home, she and her aunt came to the Ebola management center ELWA3, where they were tested positive to Ebola virus. Some days later, her grandmother was also admitted in the center. Evelyn and her grandmother have survived, but her aunt passed away some days ago.
