BARCELONA/NEW YORK—The international medical humanitarian organization Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) today launched an additional search and rescue boat in the Mediterranean Sea, to assist people during their attempts to reach Europe while fleeing war, persecution, and poverty.

Sailing today from the port of Barcelona, the boat, a 50-meter-long vessel named Dignity I, has an 18-person crew, including MSF medical personnel. It can accommodate up to 300 people rescued at sea.

Ceuta, Spain, November 14, 2003 - Hundreds of men and women, most of them newly arrived asylum seekers from Sub-Saharan Africa, are still without shelter, sufficient food, and medical assistance on the beaches of Ceuta, Spain, and are being forced to spend nights in the open in poor weather conditions.

Kunming/New York, November 30, 1998 — The international medical relief agency Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is sending blankets, medicine, and other emergency assistance to 10,000 victims of the Thursday, November, 19, earthquakes in a remote, mountainous region of Yunnan Province, China. The earthquakes, which left an estimated 25,000 people homeless, killed 5, and injured over 4,000 people.
