For more than 18 months, Central African Republic (CAR) has been drawn into yet another cycle of extreme violence, with the fighting taking a heavy toll on a population still traumatized by the civil wars in 2013 and 2014. Until recently, CAR’s capital city Bangui was spared the conflict that has erupted in other provinces, but that is no longer the case.
