A malaria surge in Haut-Uélé Province, in northeastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), has seen 1,600 children admitted with severe malaria and more than 40,000 people treated for the disease by a Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) emergency team in the past seven weeks. MSF worked alongside local staff in health facilities in the Pawa and Boma-Mangbetu areas.

In Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is vaccinating the entire population of the city of Matadi, while mosquito treatment and yellow fever vector control activities are under way in Kinshasa and in Kongo Central Province. In Angola, MSF supports the Ministry of Health in treating patients.

Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) launched an emergency malaria intervention in North Kivu, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), after unprecedented numbers of sick people were reported in October. The MSF teams have been running mobile clinics in at least five villages each week, and supporting two health centers. They see up to 500 patients a day.
