Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) began supporting Abs Hospital in northern Yemen in July 2015. A year later, an airstrike by the Saudi-led coalition destroyed part of the complex, killing 19 people, including one MSF staff member, and wounding 24 others. After rebuilding the hospital in November 2016, MSF resumed medical services.

War has once again escalated in Yemen. The April ceasefire agreement came to a violent end with suspension of peace talks on August 6. From northern Saada Governorate to Taiz Governorate in the south, intense airstrikes have resumed.

On October 26, a Saudi-led coalition airstrike destroyed the hospital in Haydan, Yemen, supported by Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF). Here, Miriam Czech, MSF program coordinator in Yemen, describes what she saw in the town in the days following the bombing.
