Major Distributions in Southern Haiti Mountains Three Months After Hurricane Matthew

Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) has launched a major distribution of building materials, hygiene kits, water storage equipment and purification tablets, blankets, and energy bars in Haiti’s most remote, mountainous southwestern region. Each of the 9,530 beneficiary families will also receive a set of 10 corrugated metal sheets, enough to rebuild a 130 square-foot roof that will improve the quality of shelters and help maintain a level of dignity.

South Sudan: MSF Treats More than 2,700 Following Violence in Juba

In the week following a recent round of fighting in Juba, South Sudan’s capital, Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) teams treated more than 2,700 patients in four clinics across the city. The organization has also been supplying clean drinking water in Juba and performing surgeries for people more seriously wounded during the violence.

Syria: 100,000 People are Trapped Near Turkish Border as Battle Lines Approach

BARCELONA/NEW YORK, JUNE 2, 2016 — An estimated 100,000 people are trapped in northern Syria’s Azaz district with battle lines approaching, the international medical humanitarian organization Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) warned today, calling on Turkey and Europe to open their borders.

Iraq: Shelling Damages MSF Clinic in Tikrit

 

NEW YORK/GENEVA — Shelling in the Iraqi city of Tikrit on June 13 caused severe damage to a clinic run by the international medical humanitarian organization Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), disrupting medical care for tens of thousands of people recently displaced by conflict in Iraq, MSF said today.

MSF called on all parties to the conflict to respect medical facilities and staff, and to spare the lives of civilians.
