Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is marking World Patient Safety Day with a big shout out to thank our staff and all health workers around the world who care for patients every day. The World Health Organization recognizes this day as an opportunity to highlight the need to provide safe, high-quality medical care as a global health priority. Providing care safely means taking steps to protect patients, as well as the staff who look after them.
This is especially true during the COVID-19 pandemic. If we can’t keep health workers safe, then they and their patients will be at risk. Every day, MSF works hard to keep our staff protected. We ensure health workers have the personal protective equipment they need, such as gloves, masks, goggles and gowns. Rigorous infection prevention and control (IPC) measures also dramatically reduce risks
