Violence Pushes Child Mortality Rate Over Emergency Threshold in South Sudan

The violence that began in South Sudan in mid-December has continued, unabated, while the humanitarian situation has further deteriorated. Data collected by doctors indicates that the mortality rate, particularly for children under five, now exceeds the emergency threshold. More than 3,000 MSF staff, mostly South Sudanese, are working in nine of the country's 10 states.
