On May 10, Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) medical teams in Jerusalem treated hundreds of Palestinians injured by Israeli police. After days of confrontations, Israeli forces entered an area in the Old City where Palestinians were gathered and deployed rubber bullets, stun grenades, and tear gas.
Many children were among those badly injured. “We’ve seen a 12-year-old with a femur injury, we’ve seen a 14-year-old with an eye injury,” said Dr. Natalie Thurtle, MSF medical coordinator. MSF is supporting the work of the Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) with teams of doctors and nurses in Jerusalem. Our teams are also ready to support health authorities in the Gaza Strip following the recent escalation of the conflict there.
