Alexander Buchmann is the Director of Field Human Resources at Doctors Without Borders / Médecins Sans Frontières USA. Alexander first worked with MSF in Niger in 2010 as a logistician. Over the next 6 years, he did field assignments in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Pakistan, Libya, Mali, Syria, South Sudan, the Philippines, Afghanistan, Ukraine, Madagascar, Greece, Australia/Republic of Nauru and Search & Rescue in the Mediterranean, mainly in the position as Field Coordinator, Head of Mission or Emergency Coordinator. He assumed the post of Director of Field HR in New York in June 2018.

Alexander holds a Bachelor’s Degree in French Literature and Area Studies from the University of Oslo, Norway. He has also been a member of the Board of Directors for MSF’s Operational Centre in Brussels (OCB).
