Challenges of responding to the coronavirus pandemic

COVID-19 Tour and Taxi project, Brussels

Responding to the global outbreak of coronavirus disease, known as COVID-19, is fraught with unprecedented challenges. Clair Mills, medical director for Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders (MSF), talks about how we're dealing with travel restrictions and supply chain disruptions, and preparing for the wider economic and social consequences of this pandemic. She also discusses the importance of maintaining our lifesaving medical aid in countries with weak or fragile health systems. Mills notes that many vulnerable communities are now further threatened by this crisis, including refugees, people caught in conflict, and people who already struggle to access basic health care.
